April Tiger Girl is an 8-year-old girl who lives in the rural town of Elk, Washington. She has been rapping for at least three years and her single “The Walking Horse” was released on iTunes last month. She also has a line of clothing that she designed herself and sells on her website. Mastodon is the latest social networking platform to hit the market. Unlike most others, this one includes some features that aren't all about connecting with friends: you can share your favorite music with your followers and see what they're listening to, or find new artists and songs through their curated playlists. The April Tiger Girl and Mastodon project came about when the two discovered some similarities between themselves. They were both fan of hip-hop, marketing on Twitter, rapping, and marketing on Facebook. The way they interact with their followers is very similar as well. “It was funny because on Facebook I never know what's going on with my people on Twitter, so I had to find a way to see what they were doing without having to log into my personal account or go through all that,” April explained in an interview with the Huffington Post. “And in order to do that I made a fake Facebook and put in all the same stuff, and you could find out what people were doing because they would post it. So I made my Twitter Page and I followed everybody back, and we started talking to each other. It's like having two different lives.” April Tiger Girl and Mastodon worked together on a song called “The Walking Horse.” This single was released on April 3, 2012 on April Tiger Girl’s website, iTunes, Amazon mp3, Google Play Music, Spotify and Deezer. The song was written in collaboration with producers, Jasper James and Paul. The single debuted at #38 on Billboard’s Rap charts. Notable lyrics include: “I'm the horseman/I'm the horseman/I'm the horseman of risk/(If you can't see that) I'm the lion/(If you can't see that) I'm the lamb/(If you can't see that)...” On May 24, 2012, April issued a press release announcing her official debut EP “April Tiger Girl and Mastodon” would be released on June 13, 2012.
